A small muscular nodule - a trigger point - can be responsible for pain far from where the knot actually sits. It's common for a trigger point in the low to mid back to radiate discomfort into the shoulders and neck, which in turn can cause a dull ache or sharp pain in the head.
How trigger point therapy works
This therapy works on the nodule directly. Specific, controlled pressure is applied to the trigger point and released after a few seconds. Throughout the treatment you participate - identifying areas of discomfort and using controlled, deep breathing.
Relieving the trigger point allows the muscle knot to loosen. Patients often experience immediate relief following a single treatment, and regularly scheduled sessions provide ongoing pain management from stress, injury, and daily tension.
